Superstring theory, either M-theory or theory of everything, dark matter, dark energy, black holes No, wormholes, multiverse, inflationary expansion, proton at the speed of light, black holes paradox…Physics of nowadays are just more and more abstract to us while for scientist we are on the point to find “THE SOLUTION”. By recreating the condition of the big bang, matter should deliver some of its secret. The LHC in Geneva is the machine of all the hopes and all the proofs, all the equations on paper should be confirm by it.
Let’s say there are two areas here:
*Scientists and their frustrations, the hopes they put in the LHC and the fact it still doesn’t work. Discouragement and Stephen Hawking saying “anyway we will never find Higgs Boson in this machine”
*Audience and phantasm. Fear, phobia, excitation, enthusiasm, the way the information on physics is communicate to broad audience involve a lot of narration that let a huge place to imagination and projection. That’s also probably why New scientist in the last issue have an article on the end of the science fiction as a result of the development of the physics in more and more abstract field-to imagine that the origin of the matter is in fact a string vibrating in the 11th dimension is by definition abstract.The Human Comedy
Michio Kaku titled his book the Physics of the impossible, to me the LHC is the extreme experiment (by the scale, the budget, the world scientist society involve in it, the engineering of the all thing…) that give birth to phantasm that in a way are quite similar to those that the first walk on the moon create.INTRODUCTION-Black hole project
